Mountain Flora
The Liechtenstein Alpine region is a plant protection area. Uprooting, digging up and picking plants is prohibited in the plant protection area.
Ordinance of May 17, 1989 for the Protection of Mountain Flora LGBl. 2002 No. 49
The legal provisions and the perimeter of the plant protection area are laid down in the Ordinance on the Protection of Mountain Flora.
Respect When in Nature
Leave no trace! In the plant protection area it is forbidden to uproot, dig up, pick, damage or destroy the habitat of wild plants.

Diversity Worth Protecting
Liechtenstein's flora is very diverse; we have over 1,500 species of plants within the country's borders. A small selection of alpine plants is listed below:
Edelweiss
Probably the best known, but also one of the rarest flowers in the Alps is the Alpine Edelweiss.
Mountain Flake Flower
With vibrant colors and filigree flower heads, it enriches mountain landscapes and plays an important role in pollination and biodiversity. Symbol of grace and perseverance in the Alps.
Saxifrage
A hardy alpine flower, growing in rocky landscapes. With delicate, colorful flowers and the ability to adapt to extreme conditions, it enriches the alpine flora and symbolizes resilience.
Alpine Bells
Also known as Soldanella, is a charming alpine flower. With bell-shaped flowers in various shades of pink and violet, it enchants the mountain landscapes. Symbol of delicate beauty and the magic of alpine nature.
