Fungal Species in Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein is home to a variety of mushroom species that are waiting to be discovered. From picturesque forests to rolling hills, Liechtenstein offers ideal conditions for the growth and diversity of mushrooms. A selection of the most common mushrooms is listed below:

Attention, there is a risk of confusion!

Bitter Bolete (Tylopilus felleus)

Tube color very young white and quickly turning pink. Peduncle is covered with a brown mesh.

Chanterelle (Cantharellus cibarius)

Appear from July to October in deciduous and coniferous forests. Chanterelles have ledges, and not lamellae. They are colored between light yellow to yolk yellow.

Attention, there is a risk of confusion!

False chanterelle (Hygrophoropsis auriantica)

Strongly forked lamellae which can be detached from the hat meat. Flesh light to orange-yellow.

Spruce Irritant (Lacatarius detterimus)

They can be found from June to late autumn, always near spruce trees. The cap is brick to orange-red and later greenish in color. In case of injury, orange-red milk comes out.

Woolly Milkling (Lactifluus vellereus)

In case of injury, white milk comes out, which becomes ochre-colored when dried. Milklings with white, bitter, scratchy or pungent milk are generally not considered edible.

Scarletina Bolete (Neoboletus erythropus)
